Advertising: platform used to manipulate recipients in public relations.
An effective way of telling the market about brand or
product can only be done through advertising, which has been working
effectively for many years. According to economics time; Advertising is a means of communication with the users of a product or service. Advertisements are messages paid for by those who send them and are intended to inform or influence people who receive them. Advertising consist of different channels
which can be used in public relations (PR), can be Newspaper, Television (TV),
Radio, Billboards and so on.
Public Relations Practitioner (PRP) they use advertising to
inform the public or target audience about the brand or product which are being
produce by the specific organization. PRP use advertising to present their
client or organization that they work for. Advertising is a quick way of
spreading the word out to the public where the main objective of the
advertisement is to manipulate people to believe in a specific product, client
or organization.

Effective advertisement can be done in different forms which
can be educational, psychological warfare, seduction and so on. Seduction for
example, it is often used by public relations practitioners which it aims at
inter alia to persuade recipients to surrender. Most of organization when they
promote a particular product they uses models or celebrities to grab attention
of their target audience and it works effectively for organizations or clients.pesuasive communication
Organization website is also a site that is been used by
public relations practitioner to give out necessary information to the public
in terms of newsletters or blogs which also helps in building the relationship
with the external public. When PRP respond to comments and e-mails which can be
sent online also manipulate people to talk about things which would have been
address on a blog or newsletters, which is simple a word of mouth advertising.
I conclude by saying advertising is one of the most effective way which is been
used by public relations practitioner to send the message out to the public for
many years and it is still working effective even today.public relations writing

If I can then ask, do you personally think that adverts and most importantly Public Relations Practitioners lead audiences, reciepients, or target astray by leading them to do what they normally wouldn't do.
ReplyDeleteThe main objective of an advert and public relations are similar at Siyabonga, which is to inform and persuade their recipients. so I say YES they do lead people to do something they wouldn't normally do using a creative way through media.
Deletethe is a saying that says impossible is the word that is found in the dictionaries fools.so since media is taken as the best way in reaching the public in the 21st century my question is what happens if the global network crashes ..is the any best strategy in the 21st century?
ReplyDeleteAs media is run through the use of technology in this 21st century at boitumelo. the best way that can be used is to only go back to traditional methods of communication, which has been working for the past centuries, even today the are some companies which still believe on it.
DeleteI agree with the fact that you said advertising is a platform that is used to manipulate people in public relations. this is very true because advertising's main role is to turn people's minds around and that is the main reason why we even have loyal customers. this is because of its persuasion which results in people also having a positive perception towards the brand
ReplyDeleteBut do you think the information that they use to turn people's mind around it is true, or they are just telling lies to achieve their organizational objective?
DeleteThat is a fact about advertising and one thing I love about it is that, it reaches the large audience depending on the type of medium used. On the other hand its kind of hard to change the way people think about the brand they have trusted or use for quite some years.
ReplyDeletewhat you said about PRP replying to comments of the audience that does not often happen they sometimes ignore most specially when the comments are negative why is it so?
I would say yes it hard to change people perceptions but it can be done through creative way of persuasion. I wont say they ignore because the are lots of comments which need to be responded where it is not easy for one person to read and reply to all comments that they receive per day, week or month. So I can say it is both negative and positive comments that can be left out.
DeleteMost people confuse Public Relations with Marketing, Advertising and Publicity. Thanks for elaborating more on these concepts.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that I'm being helpful by sharing my thoughts on this issue. Most of people they get confuse because all this concepts they work hand-in-hand.
DeleteWell in my own opinion, i think that public relations practitioners access the importance of reaching out to their targeted audience through advertising and marketing which will serve the organisation good publicity and getting the message across, and also letting people know whats going on within the organisation.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on that, but you must keep in mind that PRP they represent their client or organization which makes it to only focus on the positive side of the story or information they present to the public.
Deleteindeed advertising is the most influential aspect in todays society, which most brands and companies should rely on. without advertising we wouldn't know more about certain brands. I think most brands should adapt to the ''new media'' since it is the best and easy platform to promote and advertise their brands.
ReplyDeleteThat's true, traditional media is no longer an option to the world that we are living today, but do you think traditional media is no longer active as before compare to new media?
Deleteadvertising is still the best way of reaching millions of people around the world. Even now in the 21st century, PRP`s are still using the old methods of advertising but other companies are lying when they advertise, like Kaizer Chiefs who advertise their funeral cover because they every time the loose some of their supporters kill themselves.
ReplyDeletewhat an example, I think Kaizer Chiefs is using the weak point of people to manipulate them to join their funeral plan. Which is a good PR strategy.
DeleteYou used the term advertising, manipulating and Public Relations in one sentence. Pr is about effective two way communication between the company and its stakeholders, an ideal public would be the one manipulating the company through its very own by telling the company what they want and need. Therefore, i don't agree. with you.
ReplyDeleteThat's the correct defamation of PR. But I think you should keep in mind that PRP tells what they think people want to here not what people want to here, to keep the reputation of the organization or clients that they present.
DeleteI agree with you on this one, as I also think that public relations practitioners uses advertising in order to get attention from the public, I also think that advertising is the most effective way to get to your target audiences fast
ReplyDeleteThat's correct, and people are easily manipulated through advertising.
DeleteSo Walter what you saying is that Public Relations Practitioners need advertising to perform their duty to their target audience?i mean PR is about two way communication
ReplyDeleteThat's correct, they use new media to get information out to the public. PR is a two way communication where they send a message and get feedback from the audience.
DeleteThis is an interesting read I must say advertising does wonders for businesses I agree. I like your layout it blends well with your topic and the video too short and straight to the point im impressed.
ReplyDeletethank you for the compliment, but what do you think works better between old tradition and new tradition?
